Bomb Threat Causes Evacuation At East Brunswick Walmart: Police

The store was evacuated Monday and employees moved to a safe location. No dangerous or suspicious materials were found, police said.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Walmart in East Brunswick was evacuated Monday afternoon after they received a bomb threat, East Brunswick police said.

Around 12:45 p.m. the police got a call from Walmart, 290 Highway 18, reporting they had received a bomb threat.

The store was evacuated, and all employees were moved to a safe location while police investigated the threat, authorities said.

The police department coordinated a response that involved assistance from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office. Explosive detection canines and investigative services were brought in to investigate.

No dangerous or suspicious materials were found, police confirmed. At approximately 2:53 p.m., the building was declared safe, and employees were allowed to return to work.

Authorities said there is no continued threat to the public associated with this investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, and no other information was released by the police department.
