EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Former Councilman Michael Spadafino was honored for his service to the Township during Monday’s Council meeting.

A former East Brunswick councilman, Stanley then addressed Spadafino, saying he exemplified how politicians should conduct themselves.

“The way Michael conducts himself is the way we all should strive to conduct ourselves as political leaders,” Stanley said. “Michael you taught me how to be a gentleman in this world or politics. I really appreciate the time we had together, running two campaigns in 2016 an 2020.”

Diegnan said Spadafino is one of the “nicest” people he met through politics.

Following comments from Stanley and Diegnan, Spadafino thanked the state and Council for the honor. He also thanked the residents of East Brunswick for electing him three times.

“Through the efforts of the people in this chamber, especially to the ones that are here now, I believe that we are moving East Brunswick in a very positive direction. I think we have foresight to see what's in the best interest of our community,” Spadafino said.

“I am leaving East Brunswick, but East Brunswick is not leaving me. It is who I am.”

Spadafino resigned from Council on Jan. 10. In February, Dana Zimbicki was appointed fill the seat left vacant.
