Handgun, Ammo Found On Men Sleeping In Car In East Brunswick: PD
Abdul Bangura and Kwame Marcano, from Landover, MD were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, police said.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two men sleeping in a car were arrested and charged after officers found a handgun, ammunition, alcohol, and several bags of marijuana in the vehicle, police said.
On Saturday, Feb. 12, around 11:04 p.m., Patrolman Christopher Suydam responded to Suydam Street near Kennedy Boulevard for the report of a disabled car. On arrival, the vehicle was found “idling” on the road at a stop sign. Suydam approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Abdul Bangura, 40 from Landover, MD, and passenger, Kwame Marcano, 33 from Landover, MD, police said. Both were found to be sleeping in the vehicle.
An on-scene investigation revealed Bangura was under the influence and was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), police said. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun, ammunition, opened container of alcohol, and several bags of marijuana, police said.

Bangura and Marcano were processed and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and were transported to Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center, police said.
