House Deemed 'Uninhabitable' After Fire In East Brunswick

The fire is believed to have started from an unattended lit grill, authorities said.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — An East Brunswick resident has been displaced from their home and injured following a fire that broke out there on Tuesday night.

At 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, the East Brunswick Police Department responded to a reported structure fire on Ainslie Court.

Once police officers arrived on scene, they were joined by firefighters from all three East Brunswick Fire Districts.

Emergency responders observed an active fire involving the
home and immediately initiated fire suppression operations.

The fire was then brought under control and extinguished by responding fire personnel.

Based on a preliminary investigation, the fire is believed to have originated from an unattended lit grill, authorities said.

During the incident, a resident sustained a minor injury after cutting their foot on broken glass and was treated for the injury.

No other injuries to residents, firefighters, police officers, or
emergency personnel were reported.

Following an inspection of the property, the East Brunswick Township Building Inspector determined that the home was uninhabitable due to damage sustained in the fire.

The investigation remains ongoing by the East Brunswick District 2 Fire Official, and no additional information is being released at this time.

The East Brunswick Police Department extended its thanks to the East Brunswick Fire Districts, emergency medical personnel, and all responding agencies for their coordinated efforts in bringing the incident to a safe resolution.

Authorities are reminding residents to exercise caution when using outdoor grills and to never leave a lit grill unattended.
