Lidl Store Proposal Up Before East Brunswick Planning Board: Report

Discount grocery chain Lidl will present an application for a new store in East Brunswick to the township planning board, a report said.

The building at 651 Route 18 was last an Unclaimed Freight Furniture store. The German company needs permission from the township to demolish the site​ and build the new Lidl​, according to MyCentralJersey.com reporter Susan Loyer.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Discount grocery chain Lidl will present an application for a new store in East Brunswick to the township planning board, a report said.

Lidl is asking to demolish the Unclaimed Freight Furniture at 651 Route 18, and build a 31,042-square-foot store. The company needs township permission to do so.

MyCentralJersey.com reports the township planning board will hear the proposal Thursday at a special hearing. Lidl asked to postpone previous hearings, the report said.

In Middlesex County, Lidl has existing grocery stores in Woodbridge and North Brunswick.

The grocery chain has around 11,200 stores in 32 countries and employs more than 310,000 people globally. They have over 100 stores in nine states across the East Coast.
