Old Bridge Man, 69, Killed In Rt. 34 Hit-And-Run

The man was hit Wednesday evening while walking on Rt. 34 south near Triangle Drive in Old Bridge. The car that hit him fled, said police.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A 69-year-old man was hit by a car and killed while walking along Rt. 34 southbound in Old Bridge Wednesday night, according to acting Middlesex County Prosecutor Chris Kuberiet. The car that hit him fled the scene.

The fatal hit-and-run took place on Rt. 34 and Triangle Drive, said Old Bridge Police Chief William Volkert.

The man who was hit has been identified as Richard Lockwood, III, 69, of Old Bridge. He was pronounced dead at Old Bridge Raritan Bay Hospital at 8:28 p.m. Wednesday. Police say he was hit while walking in the roadway by a car traveling southbound on 34 in the area of Triangle Drive.
