Man Charged In Connection With May 2021 East Brunswick Shooting
Sorel Thomas was taken into custody in New York on Feb. 10 and transported to East Brunswick police headquarters, authorities said.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man from New York has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that took place in May last year, East Brunswick police said.
On May 2, 2021, around 5:40 a.m., East Brunswick patrol officers responded to the North Lake Apartment Complex on 85 Main Street for the report of a motor vehicle crash, and shots fired. According to an investigation, a dispute between two men resulted in a motor vehicle crash and shots fired by a male suspect who had fled the scene before officers could arrive, police said.
Dt. Alex Danese conducted a follow-up investigation and identified the suspect as Sorel Thomas, 28, from Bronx, New York. Danese signed complaint warrants for Thomas's arrest and provided all relevant information to NYPD Detectives.

On Thursday, Feb. 10, NYPD Detectives informed Dt. Danese that they had taken Thomas into custody.
Thomas was transported to East Brunswick police headquarters, where he was processed for attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, police said. He was taken to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center.
