Mazda Dealership To Lease Portion Of East Brunswick Parking Garage
The car dealership will be using the vacant fifth floor of the parking utility, bringing in $3,500 in revenue every month.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Since the pandemic, when people began working from home, revenues from the township’s parking utility began to dip.
In a move to make the township’s parking utility bring in revenue, East Brunswick will be leasing a portion of the Transportation and Commerce Center parking utility to Open Road Mazda located on Route 18 .
The parking utility is located at the Old Bridge Turnpike. The Mazda dealership will be utilizing the fifth floor of the facility to park its new cars.

On Monday, the Council passed a resolution approving and authorizing the lease agreement.
“We would like to enter into an agreement where they would basically lease 75 spots on the fifth floor that nobody is using that particular time,” Business Administrator Joe Criscuolo said during the council meeting.

This agreement would bring in $3,500 in revenue to the township every month. At a future date, the dealership might increase the number of leased spots to 100.
“This is just a creative way to bring in some additional revenue to the parking utility, especially because people haven’t returned to working in New York,” Criscuolo said.
Councilwoman Dana Winston called the agreement a “great arrangement” and a win-win for the township and the local business.
Mayor Brad Cohen said the agreement was to make sure the township makes up for the losses with the parking deck.
The agreement begins in June and is for a period of one year.
