Middlesex County Man Charged in Accident That Killed Passenger

Nicholas Gomes, 20, of Sayreville, was charged with one count of death by auto in the Nov. 9 accident.

A 20-year-old Sayreville man has been charged with causing an accident that resulted in the death of a passenger, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief John Zebrowski of the Sayreville Police Department announced on Monday.

Nicholas Gomes, of the Parlin section of the borough, was charged with one count of death by auto for causing the crash that killed Brandon Narleski, 19, of Parlin on Nov. 9. Narleski was a passenger in the 1997 Mercedes E-420 Gomes was driving.

Officials say Gomes was driving south on Route 9 near Bordentown Avenue when the car struck the concrete highway divider shortly before 10:53 p.m.

Narleski was thrown from the front passenger seat of the car. He was pronounced dead at 11:14 p.m.

Officials didn’t specify a cause on Monday, but the investigation is active and continuing.

Gomes is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $250,000 bail.
