New Brunswick Man Charged With Sex Assault Of 6-Year-Old Girl

Carlos Ocon of Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick was charged on Saturday with two counts of aggravated sexual assault.

A 61-year-old New Brunswick man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Anthony A. Caputo, director of the New Brunswick Police Department, announced Monday.

Carlos Ocon of Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick was charged on Saturday with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, and one count each of kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child and terroristic threats.

Ocon was being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $750,000 bail.

He was charged after Investigator George Stilwell and Investigator Grace Brown, both of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, and Detective Karla Capes and Detective Ronoldy Martinez, both of the New Brunswick Police Department, determined the defendant sexually assaulted the child at Boyd Park in New Brunswick on July 25, 2014.

The investigation further showed Ocon, who was a stranger to the child, approached her outside a store on Remsen Avenue and escorted her to the park, where he sexually assaulted her and threatened her before releasing her on Remsen Avenue and George Street.

The investigation is active and is continuing. As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Ocon are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
