Officer Responding To Emergency Injured In East Brunswick Car Crash
The Spotswood officer was responding to an emergency with lights and sirens activated when the crash occurred.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A Spotswood police officer, who was responding to an emergency, was injured in a car crash in East Brunswick early Friday morning, authorities said.
Around 02:58 a.m. on Friday, East Brunswick police officers responded to the intersection of Old Stage Road and Sandalwood Drive for a single-car crash involving a Spotswood Police car.
The Spotswood Officer was responding to an emergency with lights and sirens activated when the patrol car hit standing water, East Brunswick police said. This caused the patrol car to hydroplane, subsequently striking a fire hydrant and a tree before coming to a rest, police said.

The Spotswood officer was taken to a local area hospital with minor injuries, officials said.
