Ordinance To Allow East Brunswick Town Clerk To Issue Raffle License
Currently, those who wish to procure a license need to go before the Council to get a permit. A public hearing is scheduled for June 27.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Township has introduced a new ordinance that will make it easier for individuals and groups to procure a raffle and bingo license from East Brunswick.
The new ordinance allows the township clerk, Tamar Lawful, to issue raffle and bingo licenses.
Currently, those who wish to procure a license need to go before the Council to get a permit. This has been in practice for the past 12 years.

“Ms. Lawful with her renewed view of our township codebook had said that she by state statute can issue these licenses and as such, it makes it easier for anyone applying for a raffle license," Council President James Wendell explained. “They don’t need to wait to go before the township council.”
Individuals need to apply months in advance to find a spot on the Council agenda and procure a license. The new ordinance will cut down on this waiting time.

If passed, the 14-day waiting period will still apply, as required by state statute, Lawful said.
A public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for June 27.
