Pine Ridge Park Improvements Move Ahead

"Lions share" of work should be done by the end of the month.

Township officials say that improvements to are well under way.

Township Administrator James White told the Township Council Monday that he hopes to have the “lions share” of improvements to the park completed by the end of the month, weather permitting.

“I received an update from the engineering department, and the Pine Ridge Park is well on its way to coming to fruition,” he said. “We’ve done work on the fencing and the ball fields – the seeding of it – and that was completed, and they’re working now to install the top course on pathways and the courts and they hope to have it done by the end of the month.”

He said the improvements are a long time coming and that planning had been difficult due to topographical challenges.

On April 25, the Township Council awarding $940,848 to Green Construction of South River to renovate the 5.13 acre park. Two new tennis and a new basketball court were among the extensive renovations that also included drainage improvements at the baseball field. The township plans to spend an extra $55,000 to $60,000 on new playground equipment from Game Time through a state contract. To help offset construction costs, the township received $500,000 from the Middlesex Board of Chosen Freeholders as part of an open space contribution.
