Police say they have arrested an East Brunswick man involved in robbery at PC Richards.

On Sept. 16 at approximately 12:16 p.m., an individual entered PC Richards and removed a blender valued at $230.00. The suspect was observed by an employee leaving the store with the blender. The employee followed the suspect outside in an attempt to get him to return the merchandise.

As the employee put his hand on the suspect’s shoulder, the suspect turned around towards him and swung a knife at him. The employee backed up and the suspect ran into the parking lot. The suspect got into a Hyundai SUV that had been parked in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods parking lot and drove out of the lot.

The employee was able to provide the responding officers with a description of the suspect and the vehicle. The suspect was described as a white male with a reddish beard wearing black jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt in his late twenties to early thirties. The employee was also able to provide the license plate of the vehicle which resolved back to a residence in East Brunswick.

Detectives John Breen, Jason Haykel and Det. Sergeant Plaskon continued the investigation. They determined an individual matching the description of the suspect resided at the residence in which the vehicle was registered to. During the investigation the detectives were assisted by two Kohl’s Loss Prevention Officers who had carefully monitored the suspect on an unrelated case several months earlier. From watching the footage, detectives determined that the suspect actually changed clothing during his crimes, including wearing eyeglasses and walking with a limp utilizing a cane. This was the same modus operandi used in the PC Richard robbery.

On September 30th Detective Breen and Det. Sergeant Plaskon located Sean Clark, a 31 year old white male from East Brunswick, and placed him into custody. As a result of the subsequent interview with investigative personnel, sufficient information was developed to charge the suspect.

Sean Clark was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was transferred to the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in lieu of $100,000 bail.
