Police Investigating Stabbing Death Of Middlesex County Man

Amaury Maldonado, 34, was found on a sidewalk on Elmwood Avenue in Carteret and was pronounced dead at 5:56 a.m.

Police are investigating the death of a Middlesex County man who apparently was stabbed early Thursday during a domestic dispute, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief John Pieczyski of the Carteret Police Department announced.

Amaury Maldonado, 34, was found on a sidewalk on Elmwood Avenue in Carteret and was pronounced dead at 5:56 a.m., after police were dispatched at 4:31 a.m. to a nearby home in response to an apparent domestic incident.

The results of an autopsy being performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediately available, but it appeared Mr. Maldonado was the victim of a stabbing.

The investigation by Detective Ken Freeman of the Carteret Police Department and Investigator Michael Daniewicz of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has determined that Mr. Maldonado entered a home on Elmwood Avenue, and was stabbed.

Two people in the house were able to leave. Their names are being withheld at this time.

No charges have been filed, but the investigation is active and is continuing.
