Police Town Hall On Wednesday Will Address Thefts In East Brunswick

The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the East Brunswick Public Library.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – The East Brunswick police department will be hosting a town hall-style meeting to discuss safety concerns across the township on Wednesday.

The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the East Brunswick Public Library.

This comes after the police reported an increase in residential burglaries in the Lawrence Brook section of the Township.

“The East Brunswick Police remains committed to proactive policing of our community, which always includes our community partnerships,” the Department said in a message. “Community members should rest assured that the East Brunswick Police reviews each and every report to adjust our policing strategies on a continual basis. Although will do not publicly disclose our policing tactics, the public should know that the East Brunswick Police utilize all available resources to combat crime.”

At the recent Council meeting, Mayor Brad Cohen addressed these concerns.

Since Lawrence Brook is close to the turnpike, burglars target the area as it’s easy for them to get away, Cohen told the community. More: Mayor Addresses Concerns Over Rise In Burglaries In East Brunswick

The Mayor said the township and the police department have been assigning police in plain clothes and unmarked cars in the area. However, he refused to elaborate on the security plan put in the place.

He encouraged residents to attend the town hall with the police department.
