The number of Rutgers University students who joined the “Sugar Daddy” dating site, SeekingArrangement.com, rose from 237 to 317 students, or 32 percent, in 2014.
While that number only accounts for one percent of the school’s over all population, the increase of students signed-up for the dating site has landed Rutgers into the website’s top-50 fastest growing “Sugar Baby Schools,” according to The Daily Targum.

The average $3,000 in monthly “allowances” students could potentially earn from their financial secure matches could be what has led to the increase of interest, according to nj.com.
“The rising cost of tuition at Rutgers and universities nationwide, and the lack of congressional action on the issue of student debt, has led to a 42 percent increase in college student signups,” SeekingArrangement CEO Brandon Wade told nj.com.

According to the SeekingArrangement website, there are over 2.6 million active “Sugar Babies”, and over 1 million active “Sugar Daddies” across 139 different countries registered to the site.
