Son Arrested, Charged With Murder In Death Of East Brunswick Woman

Carmen Gordon was found dead at her home on Dec. 22. Her son was arrested and charged on Tuesday.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — On Tuesday, police arrested a man in Philadelphia and charged him with murder in connection with the death of his mother, authorities said.

Jason Gordon was arrested in Philadelphia without incident, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and East Brunswick Police Chief Frank LoSacco said. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

On Dec. 22, at around 11:09 a.m., authorities received a 911 call requesting a welfare check at the residence of Carmen Gordon on Cozzens Court. Authorities found Gordon, 68, unresponsive inside her home with fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the initial investigation, authorities identified the woman’s son, Jason Gordon, 41, of New York, as the attacker, Ciccone and LoSacco said.
