South River Man, 33, Charged With Stabbing Mother
A 33-year-old South River man was arrested Friday, Dec. 13 and charged with the attempted murder of his mother earlier that day.
SOUTH RIVER, NJ — A 33-year-old South River man was arrested Friday, Dec. 13 and charged with the attempted murder of his mother.
At 2:38 p.m. the woman was found on the sidewalk outside her home on Fairview Avenue Drive in South River. She had with multiple stab wounds, but survived. She was found by an off-duty corrections officer.
Her son, Kazufumi Nakatani, 33, of South River was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the first degree and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the third degree.

When he found the woman, the corrections officer called police for assistance.
When South River police and the Middlesex County SWAT team responded, they forced their way into the home and arrested Nakatani, who police say would not answer the door and allow police to enter the home.

Police say he stabbed his 60-year old mother multiple times inside the home they share.
He is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center.
