Spotswood Teen, 19, Killed In Monroe Bike Accident Saturday

The deceased bicyclist was identified as Christopher Pina, 19, of Spotswood. He died Saturday night near Avenue K Park in Monroe.​

MONROE, NJ — This weekend's beautiful weather brought tragedy, as a 19-year-old man in Monroe was killed in a bike accident Saturday night, while trying to ride his bike while holding onto a friend's car, said police.

The deceased bicyclist was identified as Christopher Pina, 19, of Spotswood.

Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Chris Kuberiet and Monroe police said Pina had left a friend's house on Avenue J and proceeded to Avenue K Park. He was riding his bicycle, which he latched onto the open passenger window of an acquaintance’s car.

The teen lost control of his bicycle, fell to the ground and hit the concrete, which caused his fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:23 p.m.

This happened Saturday night near Avenue K Park (Veterans Park) in Monroe.

He was pronounced at the scene due to the injuries he sustained in the accident.

No criminal charges have been filed.
