Every day, over two million people ride New York City’s subway system. Not only is this one of the busiest subways in the world, but it is also one of the most beautiful.
The East Brunswick Friends of the Library showcase the glorious artwork of the subway system through an online lecture with author/photographer Oscar Israelowitz on Thursday, November 18 at 7:30 pm. He highlights some of the best underground artwork, from 1904 through the present time.
Israelowitz is the author of several books about New Jersey and New York History, including Secrets of the New York Subway and Lower East Side: Gateway to America. In addition to his books, he is an accomplished photographer, local history lecturer and a licensed New York City Tour Guide. His photography has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum, the New York City Transit Museum and Brooklyn Historical Society.
