Three-Way Accident Leaves Two Motorcyclists Injured

Two motorcycle riders were ejected from their bikes as they crossed the Driscoll Bridge.

A three-vehicle accident occurred on the Garden State Parkway around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to New Jersey State Police.

The accident took place on a southbound lane near milepost 127.5 when a 2005 Harley Davidson rear-ended a 2010 Honda CRV, Trooper Jeff Flynn said.

The driver of the 2005 Harley, Steven Bonfiglio, 31, of Manalpan was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered serious head injuries.

A second Harley Davidson then struck Bonfiglio’s motorcycle, according to Flynn.

The driver of the second Harley Davidson, Nathaniel Villaman, 22, of East Brunswick was also thrown from his motorcycle, suffering injuries to his arm.

Police closed all southbound lanes on the bridge as a helicopter airlifted Bonfiglio to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, Flynn said.

Bonfiglio remains in critical condition, according to a hospital spokesman.

Villaman was taken to the same hospital via ambulance. The driver of the Honda CRV did not suffer any injuries, Flynn said.

State police are investigating the accident and no charges have been filed yet.
