Scammers Selling Unauthorized East Brunswick Police Merchandise On Social Media: PD

Numerous accounts are attempting to sell unauthorized merchandise on the police department's Facebook page, authorities said.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — If you see someone selling an East Brunswick Police Department hoodie or sweatshirt on Facebook, it’s a fake. While you may want to give to the police department by buying merchandise chances are you're giving money to the scammers.

Over the past few days, numerous spam accounts are attempting to sell unauthorized East Brunswick Police merchandise on the department’s Facebook page, police said.

The spammers submit comments and tag other users to persuade them to purchase unauthorized goods, authorities said.

“The East Brunswick Police Department does not authorize these sales and asks our followers not to make purchases,” the department said on Facebook.

Residents who are being tagged in the comments or see such posts should assist the police department in reporting them to Facebook.
