Visit With Your Child's Class During American Education Week

Parents are invited to observe their child's class in session next week.

Ever wonder what happens after your see your child off in the morning? Sure, you’ve met their teachers at Parent-Teacher Conferences and visited the school during an open house. But, did you ever wonder what happens once you are gone and the learning starts?

Well, the East Brunswick School District is ready to give you a chance to find out. On Wednesday of next week, the district will be celebrating American Education Week with a school visitation day. Parents are invited to visit their child’s classroom and observe a class in session.

“We’ve been doing it three or four years now, and it’s just a way for people to get in and see what go on in schools every day,” said Patricia LaDuca, the district’s director of Community Relations and Programs. “Its in honor American Education Week. It’s not a time to talk with teachers. It’s a time for parents to observe. In some of schools they’ll be extra chairs for them to come in and sit down. “

LaDuca said parents must bring an ID and know their child’s schedule. Since class is in session, parents are being asked to not bring younger siblings or children to the schools.

“Some of the classes teachers will actually have the parents interacting, whether it’s with a math game or paired reading of a story,” said LaDuca. “We usually get more participation in the younger grades.”
