Jordan Klotz, a Morristown native and hockey player at Canterbury School in New Millford, Connecticut, has paired up with YouGiveGoods this Holiday season in support of The Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and their efforts to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Jordan, who has spent countless summers on the Jersey Shore, strongly believes in giving back to the community that has recently been crushed by Hurricane Sandy, and assisting those who are in such desperate need in her wake. Jordan and his family were just recently allowed to visit their beach house on the Jersey Shore and he was stunned by the inconceivable damage.
When wondering how he could help, Jordan turned to YouGiveGoods. Having run a successful food drive with YouGiveGoods last year to support the Interfaith Food Pantry, he decided to start another one in order to quickly help all of those in need. Jordan plans to raise as much food as he can for The Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and their Hurricane relief efforts.
Jordan said, “It was devastation down there. Everything was completely changed and rearranged...whole houses were on the curb. It just really hurt me seeing the place where I spent my whole childhood in destruction, and I just thought I wanted to do something to help. So, I thought YouGiveGoods would be a great way to get involved down there. There are people that live there all year round, so it was really difficult to see that kind of devastation...I just wanted to get involved and find a way to help and YouGiveGoods gives me that opportunity.”
Anyone can get involved with the cause that Jordan is supporting by clicking here. Food can be purchased online to donate to the drive. Once the drive is over on December 25, YouGiveGoods will deliver the much-needed items to The Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and supporters will receive an e-mail to let them know when the goods have been delivered.
