Friends and Family of Donnie Farrell III and YouGiveGoods Come Together to Support The Interfaith Food Pantry

Those Remembering A Life Lost Use New Technology to Run Online Food Drive In His Memory

Friends and family of Donnie Farrell III, a student whose murder at Rowan University in 2007 is still unsolved, have paired up with YouGiveGoods this Fall in support of The Interfaith Food Pantry in Donnie’s memory.

Those who were close to Donnie want to give back to the community and assist those who are in need. They believe that helping others is the best way to keep Donnie’s memory alive. Therefore, Donnie’s friends and family plan to raise as much food as they can for The Interfaith Food Pantry and the families they feed, keeping Donnie’s spirit alive throughout the giving process.

Katie Stahl set up The Donnie Farrell III Memorial Food Drive at YouGiveGoods because it is “a unique and incredible way of organizing and participating in a Food Drive. For the past five years, I have organized the Donnie Farrell Memorial Food Drive. Donnie was killed on October 28th, 2007 at Rowan University, where he was a sophomore. Each year, we hold our Food Drive in his memory on a Saturday at the end of October.  Last year, we had a crazy surprise snow storm that affected the participation in our Food Drive. While many people braved the elements and dropped off their donations, I am sure that some were unable to join us that day. This is why an online Food Drive through YouGiveGoods is so appealing. The online Food Drive allows people who are unable to make it to the ‘physical’ Food Drive, to participate online instead. Even friends and family out of state can now be part of this yearly tribute to a very special young man.”

Anyone can donate to The Interfaith Food Pantry in memory of Donnie Farrell III by clicking here. Food can be purchased online to donate to the drive. Once the Drive is over on November 30, 2012, YouGiveGoods will deliver the items to The Interfaith Food Pantry and supporters will receive an e-mail to let them know when the goods have been delivered. Thank you for helping to keep Donnie’s memory alive through the act of helping those in need.
