Good Grief's 36 Hour Facilitator Training

Requirements: A compassionate heart and a loving ear to listen with. Good Grief provides support and a loving community to grieving children.  At Good Grief, kids learn they are not alone, they will be okay, and that they are normal.  Our programs provide coping skills and develop resiliency in a population of children that are at risk of making unhealthy choices as a result of the isolation and pain they experience after the death of a loved one.  We fulfill our mission with dedicated volunteers, who are supervised by skilled staff and experts in the field. Families at Good Grief represent 100 towns in New Jersey and most stay enrolled in our programs for two years. You will be assigned to a children, teen, young adult, or adult group after the training once you and the trainer discuss your preferences.

The Training’s Goals: Good Grief’s 36-hour Facilitator Training will debunk myths about grief, provide an opportunity for trainees to process their experiences and perspectives, educate trainees by providing key skill-sets such as effective listening and communication, while also providing a caring space to reflect on the meaning of grief and hope in the presence of pain and suffering.

Our Mission: To normalize grief in our communities through education, advocacy, and year-round support group programs for grieving children, teens and adults.
