Whippany Park Zumba a Success!
Whippany Park High School's Class of 2016 hosted a successful Zumba fundraiser.

When it came time to think fundraising, Whippany Park High School's Class of 2016 wanted to try something new.
"It was my aunt's idea, actually," admits Freshman Class President, Derek Falchi. "She's a certified Zumba instructor and she offered to donate her time."
So Zumba, a Latin-style dance class, it was!

On Saturday, January 12, the Class of 2016 hosted WPHS's first ever Zumba Fundraiser. Helping out was Falchi's aunt, a Whippany Park graduate and local Zumba instructor, Arlene Millman. Held at the high school gym, the event drew about 100 attendees.
"Everyone was there!" explains Falchi. "Girl Scout troops, senior citizens, parents; really all ages."

Millman led the crowd, who Falchi describes as having "lots of energy," through an hour-long Zumba session, allowing for a few much-needed water breaks. As the class was open to all ability levels, newcomers felt welcome dancing right alongside those more experienced at Zumba. The event, which Falchi declared a success, provided participants with the opportunity to get a fun and intense workout, a great way to kick off any New Year's weight-loss resolutions.
Due to the success of the event, which raised close to $600, Freshman Class advisers Nicole Califri and Rachel Romano hope to hold another Zumba Fundraiser in the future. While there's no date on the books yet, Zumba enthusiasts should stay tuned!
