East Hanover CPA joins Metro YMCA Board of Directors
Citrin Cooperman partner Alex Serrano's goal is to help people and "inspire others to get involved."

As a partner at Citrin Cooperman, Alex Serrano runs its college scholarship program for deserving high school students whose families struggle financially.
“I see what a difference our scholarship makes to these kids,” said Serrano, a certified public accountant. “I love to help.”
The East Hanover resident is now putting his energy into helping the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges as one of four new directors. His goal is to help people and “inspire others to get involved.”

Growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y. Serrano played basketball at his local Y. He graduated from Brooklyn College and, since 1985, has worked at Citrin Cooperman, a New York City-based accounting, tax and consulting firm with more than 600 employees.
Serrano is a mergers and acquisitions specialist and co-managing partner of the firm’s Livingston office. Fluent in Spanish, Serrano helps international companies establish their business operations in the United States. Serrano and his wife have two adult children.

Serrano joins the 33-member Board of Directors along with Dr. Valerie J. Ablaza of West Orange, Del McLennon of Fort Lee and Daniel Ponder of Montclair.
“We are thrilled to have Valerie, Del, Alex and Dan on our Board of Directors. Their expertise and experience brings a unique perspective to the work we do, and their enthusiasm for serving our communities is inspiring,” said Metro Y CEO and President Richard K. Gorab.
