East Hanover Resident Seriously Hurt in Crash

21-year-old suffers head injury after allegedly crossing double-yellow line.

An East Hanover resident was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Jefferson Township.

Andrea Fornelos, 21, was transported to Morristown Medical Center with a serious, but non-life-threatening head injury in the accident, which occurred on Berkshire Valley Road near Route 15 at about 8 a.m., Jefferson Police said.

The accident occurred when Fornelos' vehicle allegedly crossed over a double-yellow line, hitting a car operated by Erika Bath, 16, of Newton, police said. Bath was driving with a learner's permit with her father, passenger Richard Gannon, 53, of Wantage, police said.

Both Bath and Gannon were transported to St. Clare’s in Dover for moderate injuries, police said.

The Jefferson Township Rescue Squad and MICU responded to the scene.
