Invasion of the Giant Fruits ( and a couple vegetables)

The Artist Harvest, a series of large-scale fruit and vegetable sculptures featuring the artworks of famous artists, is now on display

The Artist Harvest, a series of large-scale fruit and vegetable sculptures featuring the artworks of famous artists, is now on display in Livingston. Sponsored by the township and the nationwide Food Day program, these sculptures created by The Messy Artist, an art studio for kids and adults, are in front of Livingston Town Hall, Livingston Library, and Livingston Community Center through mid November.

Donna Bernstein, owner of The Messy Artist and Millburn resident, was motivated to create these sculptures as a way to inspire a love of healthy eating and an interest in famous artworks. She was fortunate to have a wealth of talented staff, students, and Livingston residents to help out. Creating these five sculptures – each about 6 feet tall – has been a creative challenge: sometimes funny, usually messy, and always interesting.

Students and staff from over 10 towns were part of the team that helped create the sculptures, first designing and building them with wire and plaster, and later painting them in the style of famous artists.
