Parents and professionals alike claim that the Montessori Method is on the cutting edge of today’s school reform movement, which identifies innovations that have been part of Montessori classrooms since 1907. Multi-age groupings, a rich and extensive curriculum implemented with hands-on materials, cross-discipline learning, and care of the global environment are just a few of these innovative characteristics, according to Camilla Nichols-Uhler, Director of Montessori Development at MCA. Montessori education provides all of this and more in a school setting with a “family atmosphere.” From their original early childhood classes for children ages 3 through 6, many Montessori schools have expanded to serve infants, toddlers, elementary, and middle school children, with a few continuing through high school.
The children at all three of the MCA campuses will participate in a variety of activities to commemorate Montessori Education Week, including singing Montessori songs, studying Italy, reviewing Maria Montessori’s timeline of her life and work, lighting a candle for peace, and creating their own versions of Montessori materials, just to name a few. It is sure to be a magnificent Montessori celebration! To learn more about Montessori education and MCA, visit our website at themontessorichildrensacademy.com.
