Columbus Day Parade Honors Heritage, Civic Leader

Eighth annual parade in East Hanover celebrated Italian American heritage and featured bands, trucks and celebrity guests while recognizing the life of Ralph Politi Jr.

The eighth annual Morris County Columbus Day Parade made its way down Ridgedale Avenue in East Hanover on Sunday afternoon.

Hosted by the East Hanover Italian American Club, the event drew thousands of people and 30 organizations, including police from New York and Italy, organizers said. This year's festivities included a Columbus Day 5K starting at Lurker Park on Sunday morning.

The event honored Ralph Politi Jr., a East Hanover businessman and Hanover Park Board of Education member who was killed by an alleged drunk driver on Ridgedale Avenue earlier this year.
