Police Release Details of Morris Teen's Alleged Murder of Father

Affidavit claims Travis Hofstetter, 18, shot his dad in the face, then admitted murder to police, report says.

The Morris County teen who has been charged with murdering his own father in their Kinnelon home apparently did so with a rifle at close range.

According to nj.com, an affidavit signed by Kinnelon Police states Travis Hofstetter, 18, shot his father James, 57, in the face while standing in the kitchen of their home. The rifle was then left in the living room before Hofstetter allegedly fled the home.

Hofstetter was found in the Stockholm section of Hardyston shortly thereafter in the parking lot of Skylands Ice World on Route 23. He was sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, and allegedly told a police dispatcher, “I murdered my father.”
