Prior DWI To Be Used Against Driver Accused of Killing East Hanover Man

Vanessa Brown is charged with aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

Vanessa Brown’s 2009 conviction of driving while intoxicated will be used against her in court while she stands trial for aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

Brown, 32, of Parsippany, struck with her car and killed Ralph Politi of East Hanover in May 2012 while the victim stood outside his store.

According to nj.com, an appellate court upheld rulings Thursday that would allow Brown’s 2009 conviction to be used in the case. In that case from five years ago, Brown was said to have a blood-alcohol concentration of .194 – more than twice the legal limit, the report said.
