Madison quarterback Carson Lassiter plunged in for two TDs and Justin Goodwin also scored twice for the 3-0 Dodgers. The two time defending state champions also extended their unbeaten string to 28 games.

IN SHORT
The Hornets put up a great fight but the Dodgers have too many offensive weapons to stop them all. Hanover Park limited standout runner and kick returner Justin Goodwin to under 100 yards rushing but they refused to kick off to him. Madison special teams recovered all of Hanover Park’s short kicks which gave the Dodgers tremendous field position all game long. The consistent and varied running attack of the bullish Register, slashing quarterback Carson Lassiter and speedy Goodwin was too much to control.

The Hornets had fun trying though. Sivolella was sensational at times. He gave a great fake off a handoff and rushed for an 81 yard touchdown to start the third quarter. He also hooked up with Jaquill Scott for a 71-yard scoring play in the first quarter. Another long pass play to John Cordovano helped set up a Sivolella four-yard TD run. Hanover Park also got a big boost from a 35-yard pass intereception and score by junior linebacker Scott Kenney.

HORNET OF THE GAME
Jimmy Sivollela, Quarterback—
He rushed four two scores, passed for another and kept the Dodgers off balance for a good part of the game. His 81-yard run down the left sideline early in the third quarter was set up by a nifty ball fake. He also made an important block that allowed Kenney to return his interception of a Lassiter pass for a touchdown. The defensive play made it a 35-25 contest midway through the third quarter and kept the Hornets in it.

TOP HORNETS OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCES
PASSING: Sivolella (6 of 18 for 195 yards; one touchdown, one interception)
RUSHING: Sivolella (9 carries for 83 yards; two touchdowns)
RECEIVING: Jaquill Scott (two catches for 86 yards; one touchdowns)

TOUGH OPPONENT
Shone Register, senior fullback—
Register is one tough player to bring down. He rushed for 162 yards on 24 carries and three touchdowns. His scores came on runs from nine, six and 11- yard bursts. The senior back, who has tremendous size but surprising agility, also made his presence felt on the defensive side of the ball, too.

THEY SAID IT
"The kids played well. We’re not happy about losing but I think we gave them everything they could handle. The kids really battled. … Jimmy (Sivolella) is a great athlete and a great leader for us. He’s doing some nice things. He’s tough to defend. … (Former New York Giants standout) O.J. Anderson came and talked to the kids before the game. We were fortunate to have him visit us. … Scott Kenney made a great read and stepped in front of the ball. It gave us some life when we needed it."–Hanover Park head coach Gerry Moore

“(On my run) my line blows things up all the time. They give me great holes. If there’s a hole that big I just hit it and that’s it. … They have a lot of strong, tough kids but I think we also have a lot of strong tough kids. We knew they play man and I know our matchups can beat them so we made some runs. … We feel that we should stick with them toe to toe because we also feel that we are a great team just like they are.” Hanover Park quarterback Jimmy Sivolella.
