Some Ritz Crackers Recalled For Possible Salmonella Threat

The East Hanover-based company issued a recall of 16 different types of Ritz crackers over possible contamination.

EAST HANOVER, NJ — If you have a box of Ritz crackers in your pantry, you might want to check the UPC number: Mondelēz Global LLC has issued a recall of 16 different types of crackers over the possibility they are contaminated with salmonella.

The East Hanover-based company says the whey power used to make the crackers could be contaminated with salmonella. No one has gotten sick so far, the company says, and the recall is based on information provided by the whey manufacture. (See a full list of recalled products below).

Anyone who has any of the affected products should not eat them, and should throw them away. For more information, you can call the company at 1-844-366 -1171. Salmonella can cause fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and, in more serious cases, arterial infections, arthritis, and death.
