1 Killed, 6 Injured After SUV Overturns On Wet Road In Mercer Co.

An SUV carrying seven passengers overturned after it lost control during Monday night's hazardous weather, West Windsor police said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — One person was killed, two critically injured and four other sustained injuries after an SUV overturned multiple times on a wet road in West Windsor Monday night, police said.

At 10:40 p.m. on Monday, the West Windsor Patrol Units were dispatched to Old Trenton Road near Cubberley Road for a serious motor vehicle crash.

On arrival, officers found a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder with seven occupants had overturned, police said.

Of the seven occupants, three were ejected from the Nissan during the collision. A 44-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The remaining occupants were taken to the Capital Health Regional Medical Center with a variety of injuries. Two are currently listed as being in critical condition with life threatening injuries while the remaining four sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.

According to preliminary investigation, the vehicle was traveling westbound on Old Trenton Road just west of Cubberley Road. As it was raining and the roadway was wet, the SUV lost control, left the road to the right, and overturned multiple times in the 1400 Block of Old Trenton Road where it ultimately came to its final resting place, police said.

The investigation is currently ongoing under the direction of Traffic Sgt. K. Loretucci .

No identities are being released at this time.

The roadway was closed for approximately four hours after the crash.
