Comment of the Week: Congrats to Stacey Katz!

I’ll admit that it’s hardly the beginning of the week anymore. The holiday weekend threw our schedule for a bit of a loop, but I can’t imagine I’m the only one who realized they completely missed a favorite show (sorry, Game of Thrones!) or wrote down the wrong date because it’s a short week.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get on to congratulating our big winner, and taking a look at some of the week’s other great comments!

Congratulations are in order for Stacey Katz, one of our bloggers who’s also our first winner for Comment of the Week!

Here’s what Stacey wrote about Judy Shepps Battle’s column last week, , in which Judy said it’s not solely McDonald’s responsibility to fight childhood obesity:

So many reasons Americans eat fast food. I believe for some it is a very cheap meal (think dollar menu and how much you can actually eat for $5.00). For Moms (Parents) on the go it is just what it announces, "fast food". We spent many a weekend and nights after school on the soccer field, years and years and years- but my kids never had fast food, nor did I see a lot of it from other parents. I made sandwiches (of all wonderful sorts) and that's what we ate on the field. If you plan it, it isn't tough. The tough part is the planning. I never deprived my kids if they wanted it (Wendy's), but there were always other options, unless they begged. <smile> The biggest treat my kids had was my parents taking them to McD's for breakfast when they stayed with them. My kids knew I'd never give them that for breakfast! :)
