Credit Card Fraud, Hindering Apprehension: East Windsor Police Blotter

A Trenton resident attempted to buy a new phone using stolen account information from AT&T, police said.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — The East Windsor Police Blotter dated May 11, had the following reports:

On May 5 at 2 .08 p.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 130 after observing the vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel. The driver, a 56-year-old East Windsor resident, showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest. The driver was later released pending court action.

On May 5 at 1:30 p.m., an officer stopped to assist a disabled vehicle on Route 130. During the encounter, the two occupants showed signs of being under the influence of some type of intoxicant. The 35-year-old Williamstown woman and 39-year-old Newport resident were provided with medical services and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The officer located suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle and both were charged on a complaint summons.

On May 5, at 8: 42 p.m., an officer responded to the Walmart on Route 130 for a reported shoplifting. Investigation revealed that a 26-year-old Hightstown resident left the store without paying for $294.99 worth of merchandise. The resident was arrested and later released pending court action.

On May 6, an officer responded to ShopRite on 319 Route 130 for a reported theft. Investigation revealed that a 37-year-old Philadelphia man stole a customer's wallet from her purse and attempted to utilize one of the victim's stolen credit cards at a nearby CVS. ShopRite Loss Prevention assisted with video surveillance and located the suspect. A description of the suspect was distributed to other patrol officers who located him in the Staples parking lot. The man was placed under arrest and take to the Mercer County Corrections Center pending court action.

On May 8, an officer responded to the AT&T Wireless store on 72 Route 571 for a reported fraud. According to investigation a Trenton resident attempted to buy a new phone using stolen account information from a legitimate customer. The man was charged with theft of identity and other offenses, and released pending court action.

On May 8, at 12:50 p.m., an officer responded to ShopRite for a reported shoplifting. Investigation revealed that a New Brunswick resident left the store without paying for $653.91 worth of merchandise. The individual was later identified and charged on a complaint summons.

On May 10, at 11:10 a.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 33 after discovering the vehicle registration was expired and the owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver's license. Investigation revealed that a passenger had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from another jurisdiction and he provided officers with a false name during their encounter. The Trenton resident was taken into custody and later released pending court action.
