The sweep, which concluded Wednesday morning, was part of a national effort to apprehend violators with outstanding warrants.

A total of 10 people were arrested in a Domestic Violence Sweep that concluded early Wednesday morning, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler said.
It was part of a national effort designed to apprehend people with outstanding domestic violence warrants. The effort began in Oregon in 2001.
Locally, the sheriff’s office led the effort along with members of the US Marshals Service.

Officers pursued the most flagrant violators in the county, with charges ranging from violations of restraining orders, harassment, and aggravated assault, and death threats.
“Those apprehended in the sweep were the most blatant and deliberate domestic violence offenders in our area,” Kemler said. “Most taken into custody had a consistent record of harassment or intended violence against a spouse, partner or family member.”
