East Windsor Jewish Centers Help Secure Over 500 Legacy Gifts For Jewish Community

EAST WINDSOR, NJ —Four Jewish centers in East Windsor are part of a group of 14 Jewish centers that have secured over 500 legacy gift commitments representing an estimated $22 million in funds, through the Life and Legacy Program, the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Mercer County announced on Monday.

Beth El Synagogue, Congregation Toras Emes, Rimon – The Mordecai T. Mezrich Center of Jewish Learning and Shalom Heritage Center participate in Life and Legacy, a partnership of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and the Jewish Community Foundation.

Life and Legacy promotes endowment and after-lifetime giving to benefit local Jewish day schools, synagogues, social service agencies and other Jewish non-profits.

Through training, support and grants, the Jewish Community Foundation works with 14 community partners to motivate individuals and families to plan after-lifetime gifts to assure sustainable Jewish community organizations into the future. Over the past three years, through this program, over 11,500 legacy gifts commitments have been secured for the Jewish community nation-wide.

The Jewish Community Foundation works with individuals and families to explore ways to give purposefully and meaningfully to the Jewish organizations they most value. All, regardless of age or wealth, have the ability to leave an after-lifetime gift. Leaving a legacy gift can be done through a bequest, gift of life insurance, gift of an IRA or other retirement fund, through a Donor Advised Fund at the Foundation, and through other means.

Participants who helped the program reach 500 legacy gifts included:

• Beth El Synagogue (East Windsor, NJ);
• Congregation Beth Chaim (Princeton Junction, NJ);
• Congregation Toras Emes (East Windsor, NJ);
• Greenwood House (Ewing, NJ);
• The Jewish Center (Princeton, NJ);
• Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County;
• Kehilat Hanahar (New Hope, PA);
• National Museum of American Jewish History (Philadelphia, PA);
• Or Chadash (Flemington, NJ);
• Rimon – The Mordecai T. Mezrich Center of Jewish Learning (East Windsor, NJ);
• Shalom Heritage Center (East Windsor, NJ); and
• Temple Beth El (Hillsborough, NJ).
