East Windsor School District To Go All-Remote Until Jan. 18
The decision was made after a meeting with local health department officials, who saw a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in town.
EAST WINDSOR, NJ — The East Windsor Regional School District will switch to remote learning on Nov.30, through Jan. 18, 2021, Superintendent Mark Daniels announced on Saturday.
Daniels said the decision was made after meeting with local health department officials, who saw a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in town.
The school district was to begin in-person learning under the hybrid program on Nov. 30.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share this news, but I would not be fully honoring my responsibilities as superintendent to ignore these serious health statistics,” said Daniels.
All students, including students in the Autism and Multiple Disabilities classes, who have been attending in-person since September will now go remote.

“Their last day for in-person instruction will be on Wednesday, November 25. In addition, the last day for the operation of Kidcare Support Centers will be November 25,” said Daniels.
Daniels said the upcoming holidays will see many students and their families travel or gather with family. “The proposed reopening date allows for a quarantine period related to the winter holiday season,” he said.
Between Nov. 5 and 20, 21 students tested positive for COVID-19. Daniels said based on this data, if schools were currently open for in-person classes, there is a likelihood that several schools would need to close for two weeks, due to an outbreak.
Here’s the schedule for the upcoming days:
- From Monday, Nov. 30, through Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, all students will continue with remote instruction. Students will follow the remote learning schedule associated with their school.
- The hybrid in-person instruction will tentatively begin on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021.
- Parents are encouraged to maintain close communication with their child’s teachers and counselors.
- The school district is currently assessing the conditions and protocols associated with the most recent update from the NJSIAA (New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association) regarding winter high school athletics. “Therefore, a final decision has not been determined in the EWRSD regarding winter high school athletics at this time,” said Daniels.
- The East Windsor Regional School District will continue to offer meals to all children at no additional cost until further notice. Chartwells, the food service provider is offering 7-day meal packages for breakfast and lunch every Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ethel McKnight Elementary School and Grace N. Rogers Elementary School.
East Windsor schools joins other school districts in going remote due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.
Princeton Public Schools will be remote for a week after Thanksgiving. South Brunswick School District is going all-remote till Dec.14, and Lawrence Public Schools will be remote till Jan. 18.
