East Windsor Schools To Follow NJ Guidance On Mask Requirement
The school district will require students and staff to wear face masks indoors during the new school year "with limited exceptions."
EAST WINDSOR, NJ — The East Windsor Regional School District will follow New Jersey’s guidance when it comes to masking and other COVID-19 safety protocols, Superintendent Mark Daniels announced Monday.
In a letter to the school community, Daniels gave an update about the upcoming school reopening on Sep. 9, which including information on masking mandates, contact tracing, social distancing, and more.
“As per Governor Murphy’s recent Executive Order (EO 251), all students, educators, staff, and visitors will be required to wear face masks indoors for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. (EO 251) mandates masking in the indoor premises of all public, private, and parochial preschool, elementary, and secondary school buildings, with limited exceptions,” Daniels said.

“Unvaccinated close contacts will be excluded from school per the latest NJDOH recommendations that will be determined by regional COVID-19 transmission levels,” Daniels said. “Students identified as close contacts who need to be temporarily excluded from school will have the opportunity to participate in remote/virtual learning during this time.”
Parents will also have to fill a daily health screening survey for their children. Meanwhile, social distancing of three feet will be maintained between students in classrooms, cafeterias, and indoor instructional spaces.
If a student of staff exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 or has tested positive, they will be excluded from school for 10 days “from the onset of symptoms or from the positive test result (if asymptomatic).”
“Unvaccinated individuals identified as close contacts will need to quarantine and be temporarily excluded from school as per the latest NJDOH recommendations that will be determined by regional COVID-19 transmission levels,” Daniels said.
Students under quarantine will participate in virtual learning.
The district also has a designated isolation room, which will serve as a temporary location for students or staff who exhibit COVID-19 related symptoms while at school.
