East Windsor Schools To Start Remote Learning Due To Coronavirus

East Windsor schools will begin remote learning on Tuesday.

EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — East Windsor Regional Public Schools will move to a remote learning environment beginning Tuesday, the district announced on Friday. This will remain in effect through March 29.

The school district will re-evaluate the length of closure and will follow guidelines provided by our public health officials, the district said on Friday.

During this time, students will learn at home and receive virtual support from their teachers. The district’s remote learning plan consists of online learning mixed with traditional learning activities including books, instructional packets, supplementary handouts and other relevant sources.

“Although we do not have a known confirmed case in the East Windsor Regional School District at this time, I do not want to wait until one is identified and it becomes too late to limit the spread of this highly contagious virus,” Superintendent of Schools Mark Daniels said. “This is being implemented as a precautionary and proactive approach to reduce the risk for our students, staff and families.”

The following buildings will be open from 8 a.m. to noon for the students to have breakfast: EMK, PLD, GNR, MHK and Hightstown High School. Students will be able to get breakfast from the building closest to their home, and items will be grab-and-go only.

All after school, evening and weekend activities have also either been canceled or postponed. Events scheduled in the district’s facilities and rental activities are also canceled. Athletic practices and competitions are canceled until further notice. More information will follow about the Spring athletic season. “I recognize this is a unique and difficult time, but I am confident that as a school community, we can overcome the challenges ahead,” Daniels said. “I would like to express my deep appreciation to the entire school community for its continued flexibility, understanding and support.”
