East Windsor Seeks Nominations For Business Awards
The purpose of the program is to recognize local businesses that make special efforts to improve or contribute to the community.

EAST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — East Windsor Township is seeking nominations for the 2017 Township Business Awards Program, the township announced this week. The purpose of the program is to recognize local businesses that make special efforts to improve or contribute to the community.
The three categories of Township award recognition are Business Beautification, Community Service, and Community Enhancement. Details for each category are as follows:
Business Beautification: creating an attractive appearance, for example, through landscaping, flowers, and other enhancements to their structures and site.

Criteria: Design and quality of the landscaped area including the number of plantings and the arrangement of shrubs, trees and flowers to enhance the visual appearance of the business building and site. Specific attention will be given to landscaping along street frontages, at site entranceways, and in parking areas. Improvements to the exterior appearance of structures and related property items such as facades, signs, lighting, and parking islands made during the calendar year.
Community Service: providing for community contributions and service.

Criteria: Dedication of resources, monetary or in-kind; support of Township programs and community organizations. Direct participation in community projects and/or groups. Positive promotion of Township.
Community Enhancement: providing any community value added aspect related to their business, for example, extraordinary job creation or an unusual or special product or opportunity.

Green and sustainable practices, for example, green products, energy conservation, reduction of waste and energy consumption are encouraged and will be given more weight.

“This program was created to give well deserved recognition to businesses which have made special efforts to enhance our community,” East Windsor Mayor Janice S. Mironov said. “It also highlights the importance which our community places on local business owners and operators.”
Nominations can be made by any East Windsor Township resident by submitting a nomination form to the Mayor and Council. Any business property in the township can be nominated.
Nomination forms are available at the municipal building, at the Hickory Corner and Twin Rivers branch public libraries, and online at www.east-windsor.nj.us. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 15.
A selection committee will review all nominations and select the winning businesses. The committee may include representatives from the Township Economic Development Committee, the Township Environmental Commission, Clean Communities Committee and the Township Council.
The committee will select one business property owner for each awards category and state the reasons for their selections. Businesses selected will receive their awards at an East Windsor Township Council meeting in the fall.
