Family Displaced After Blaze Damages Home In Mercer County

Based on initial investigation, the fire that damaged the home on Monday afternoon was deemed accidental in nature.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A family in West Windsor was displaced after a blaze damaged portions of their home, authorities said.

On Monday, around 1:50 p.m., West Windsor police received a 911 call for a fire at a residence in Benford Estates.

The call was made by a landscaper who was to perform work across the street from the blaze, police said.

Patrol Units founds an active fire had engulfed the kitchen of the home. The West Windsor Division of Fire & Emergency Services, West Windsor Volunteer Fire Company, Princeton Junction Fire Company, and Plainsboro Fire Department arrived at the scene to battle the blaze.

Fire Chief Lynch deemed the blaze under control at 2:07 pm. There were no injuries reported.

Based on the initial investigation, the fire was deemed accidental in nature. The West Windsor Township Construction Office determined that the home was uninhabitable as a result of the fire and the residents made alternate arrangements for shelter.
