Four Goals Each for Colavita and Douglass in HHS Girls Lacrosse Win

Hightstown High team earns second victory.

The girls lacrosse team put together its second straight outstanding game, taking care of Hamilton's Steinert High School, 15-10, on April 6.

This win was expected because Steinert is a first-year varsity program. According to Hightstown Coach Julie Reisig, however, that wasn't apparent by the play on the field.

"Steinert looked very good for a first-year team," Reisig said. "I had to let my kids loose and go to goal hard after about 10 minutes, because they were hanging with us."

Hightstown regrouped and took a 7-4 lead at the half.

"I thought we might have to take it easy on them, but that was not the case," Reisig noted. "They have a very good goalie [the girls soccer goalie], and they were hard to score on.  They also had a lot of their very fast, athletic soccer players who got multiple interceptions because they beat us to the ball."

Melissa Colavita and Cate Douglass scored four goals each for Hightstown. Katie Hackett had two goals and an assist. Caroline Noebels had a goal and four assists. Carey Ladd and Melissa Ladd both had a goal and an assist. Jess Lenzo and Nicole Kerr both scored goals.

Emily LeBlanc made five saves while recording the win in goal.

"The Steinert players made up for their lack of experience with determination and hustle," Reisig said. "They showed us a few things we need to work on."

Hightstown's game against Northern Burlington Regional High School was rained out on Friday.

Hightstown was scheduled to play Hamilton today, Tuesday, before the rain was forecast.
