Hightstown Girls Lacrosse Team Breaks HHS Record
The Rams improve to 11-1 and hit the quarterfinals of the Mercer County Tournament.
The girls lacrosse team is not only having a good season, it's a historic one.
With its 14-13 win over Hun in the opening game of the Mercer County Tournament on May 7, Hightstown improved to 11-1.
The win total ties the most in school history with the 11-5 2008 team. The 16 goals per game is the highest in school history. The team has already clinched at least a tie in the Valley Division. It has a favorable goal differential of 86. Last season, the team was negative 53 in goal differential. Hightstown is fourth in the state in goals scored.

Of course, none of this would be possible if it weren't for the recent heroics of Caroline Noebels and Melissa Colavita. Noebels tied the game with 47 seconds left in regulation. Colavita scored the winner in overtime.
"In overtime, I feel we dominated and played with a lot of confidence and intenstity," Hightstown Coach Julie Resig said.

Colavita and Cate Douglass scored three goals each for Hightstown. Ashley Kozic and Noebels added two goals each.
"There were also two goals we had called back, but Emily Le Blanc came up with some clutch saves when we needed them most to preserve the win," Reisig said. "It was really fun to watch Melissa Ladd get the ball at the end and hold it, racing all over the place trying to avoid the triple teams and heavy pressure they had on her. She basically ran out the clock as they chased her all over the field."
Hightstown won all four games it played last week, starting with a 19-6 win over Ranney on May 2.
Katie Hackett recorded three goals and two assists. Douglass, Nicole Kerr, Melissa Ladd, Carey Ladd, Jessica Lenzo and Tina Mongiello had two goals each.
Hightstown defeated Ewing, 21-13, on May 3.
Emily Ladd had 11 saves in goal. Douglass recorded five goals and an assist. Melissa Ladd scored four goals, Noebels three goals, and Mongiello and Hackett had two goals each.
On May 5, Hightstown defeated Pennington, 18-16.
Noebels scored four goals. Carey Ladd, Mongiello and Douglass scored three each. Colavita and Kerr scored two goals each.
Hightstown will try to add to its historic season as it plays in the Mercer County Tournament quarterfinals today, Tuesday. A 12th win would be a first for Hightstown.
