Hightstown High Girls Soccer Should Be An Improved Team
Team has 18 returning players from last season.
With 18 returning players and a successful summer season put in, the Hightstown High girls soccer team seems set to improve from the 2010 campaign.
"We are looking to have a good season," Hightstown Coach Don Hess said.
Hess is entering his 22nd season as the coach at Hightstown, which had a record of 6-11-2 last season. Ray Griffis and Sean Meloney are the assistant coaches.

Hightstown only lost five players to graduation. This team will try and build around its depth and experience this year.
While Hightstown doesn't return any major offensive force, it does bring back 10 girls that scored a varsity goal last season.

Rafi Alexander is a junior who recorded two goals and two assists. Lydia Walsh is a junior who scored two goals and four assists. Sarah LeChard is a sophomore who had two goals and two assist. All three girls play on the front line.
Jenna Marcus, a senior, is another player that plays on the front line. She scored one goal last year.
Kristin Bland (junior), Erin Dailey (sophomore), Renna Ketar (junior) and Melissa Arrisueno (senior) are halfbacks who all scored a goal last year.
Becca Cordo (junior) and Delaney Kelly (senior) are fullbacks who also scored goals. Kelly McGlew (junior) is a fullback who had an assist.
In addition to having many players that can score, Hightstown also has two very good goalies who can stop the ball.
According to Hess, Lisa Jerry and Erin Sobkowiak, both juniors, will get a lot of playing time in goal.
Other returning players include Courtney Lenzo (a sophomore halfback) and Aziza Ahmed (a senior fullback).
Brianne D'Ambrosia (a sophomore fullback), Marizol Rozo (a sophomore halfback), Alexa Lopez (a freshman forward), Cristina Tous (a freshman halfback), Morgan Page (a sophomore fullback), Aimee Sandoval (a sophomore forward), Dakota Mills (a freshman forward) and Kelly Arnold (a freshman halfback) are other players that Hess believes can help his team.
Hightstown has 15 matches scheduled with additional games added by tournaments. Hightstown will open Sept. 8 when it hosts Steinert in a 4 p.m. start.
"We open with Steinert, West Windsor South and Robbinsville, so we will know where we stand right away," Hess said.
